Medical OncologistArizona Veterinary Oncology (AVO) is pleased to announce that we are growing and have an immediate opening for a Medical Oncologist. This full-time position is unique in that it is a private practice service within a veterinary teaching hospital. Oncology can be an incredibly stressful profession. Whenever possible, we try to have fun with our patients and with each other. We try and make our interactions a positive one whether it’s with a member of our team, a client, or a patient. Sometimes, our appointments take a little longer because we find when we slow down and take our time, our patients and clients feel more comfortable. At AVO, we value every client, every patient, and every employee.

Why AVO?Medical Oncologist and Veterinarian Technician
Midwestern University College of Veterinary Medicine graduated its inaugural class of DVMs in 2018. These graduates scored higher than the national average on the NAVLE and are receiving glowing praise from new employers about their job skills. MWU students are trained within a gorgeous veterinary teaching hospital and partner with highly qualified practices around the valley (not a distributive model). Arizona Veterinary Oncology is proud to be involved in the training of these students through clinical interactions and lecture opportunities. AVO works alongside the talented MWU surgeons, internists, neurologist, anesthesiologists and numerous general practitioners for hands on learning. There are also additional compensation opportunities for lectures delivered to students with no additional committee requirements.
If you would like to earn a private practice salary but work in a veterinary teaching hospital, AVO may be the place for you. We offer competitive wages, medical benefits, vacation and sick time, a simple IRA program starting day one, and a generous signing bonus.
Phoenix Resort Lifestyle

Client Recommendation

I can't recommend Dr. Boshoven and his wonderful staff highly enough. I am extremely grateful for the outstanding care my skittish ten year old cat Sandy received throughout the process of curing his hyperthyroidism via administration of radioactive iodine. Dr. Boshoven's credentials, training, and expertise are impressive. He is a good communicator and he explained Sandy's treatment plan in a clear, concise manner. His veterinary clinic is the only one in the Phoenix area that features a technetium scan which enables Dr. Boshoven to calculate a custom-tailored dosage of I-131 for each patient, ensuring optimal outcomes. I was particularly happy that Dr. Boshoven and his team were able to manage Sandy gently and very well even though he suffers from fear-based aggression related to the significant hardships he'd encountered before I adopted him. Dr. Boshoven's staff, notably Rudy and Allie, reflect the same high level of patience, professionalism, and compassion which he demonstrates. It was difficult for me to be separated from Sandy for five days, but I was comforted by the knowledge that I had left him in very good, kind hands. He came home cheerful and well, not in any way traumatized by his experiences at Arizona Vet Oncology. I am so happy that I can look forward to many more good and happy years with Sandy now that his hyperthyroidism has been cured. Dr. Boshoven and his staff are my heroes!
